Minnesota Day Without Childcare
March 2nd is a statewide day of action organized by Kids Count on Us. On Monday, March 2, childcare programs will close, and communities will come together to highlight a system in crisis — and to demand solutions that support caregivers and families alike.
Our Demands:
Stop federal attacks on our childcare funding
ICE out of our childcare communities
Free childcare for families and thriving wages for early educators
Get rid of tax loopholes for the wealthy few to pay for it
How you can get involved:
Write to your legislator - here’s our template letters to write to your elected Representatives and to share why Childcare is critical infrastructure. We encourage you to personalize them and share YOUR story!
Celebrate your childcare center - Here’s our “how to” set up a station at your childcare center to collect and celebrate what childcare makes possible for your community. Use the templates above, ask your daycare center for permission to hang out at pickup time, and talk to other parents about the Day Without Childcare and why it matters. Use this outline of how-to, and our template letters for an easy action!
Join us for a Childcare Roundtable on Tuesday, March 3rd, in Elk River, recognizing the value of childcare. See details and RSVP here.
